Bio

Chloe Mc Hugh, founder of Sonas Sounds, is a sound artist and fully certified sound therapy practitioner, and mindfulness teacher.

Since 2011 Chloe has been exploring the art of sound and its wide-ranging use around the world.  She is deeply inspired by the power of sound and vibration to transcend time and place, language and culture, to elicit both emotional and physical responses, and profoundly touch something within. Having trained in Europe, Asia and Latin America Chloe brings a unique approach to the application of sound for both groups and individuals. She incorporates her learning and training from east and west and knowledge of ancient wisdom and modern research to create powerful and distinctive experiences. She enjoys working with sound in a creative way, carefully weaving artistic expression with the therapeutic and healing effects of sound, exploring the relationship between sound, art, perception and healing. Chloe’s intention is to create an opportunity to bring people together, to be part of a collective experience, that is both shared and personal. To offer a space for stillness and inner connection… to listen deeply and see where the journey goes.

Chloe is also a certified teacher of Mindfulness-Based Interventions, having recently completed an 18-month diploma. More information about this area of her work is available on the mindfulness courses page.

Inspired by the close connection she identified between sound and mindfulness practices to support a more embodied, present way of being, Chloe has developed the Mindful Sounds programme, which brings these practices together. Through this programme participants are introduced to mindfulness practices and have the opportunity to engage with sound in a more consistent and immersive way through regular exposure and explore how these practices complement each other and support wellbeing.

Sound Training & Certification

Chloe is a certified Sound Massage Therapy practitioner and certified Gong practitioner, and she offers 1-to-1 sound massage therapy treatments and group sound journeys for deep listening and collective healing.

She completed the 208 hour Sound Massage Therapy training at the Peter Hess Institute® (PHI®) in Germany, in the use of sound in a therapeutic setting, followed by Gong Practitioner training with Christine Heckel (affiliate of the PHI®) in Spain. The PHI® spearheaded the use of sound as a complementary therapy in mainstream medicine in Germany and continues to work in collaboration with the Steinbeis University in Berlin to develop research into the effect of frequency on the brain. Latest research results from neurobiology, psychology and other scientific disciplines are steadily incorporated in the training seminars. "Peter Hess®” is trademarked throughout Europe; http://www.peter-hess-institut.de/

In Nepal Chloe trained in the traditional methods of working with sound as practiced for thousands of years in the Himalayan region. And in Latin America she learned to work with sound as used by indigenous communities and in shamanic practices.

Chloe continues to work under a mentor in the UK, through which her work is peer reviewed as part of her continuous professional development.
